2015 General Information for Take the Lead Dance Recital
Thank you for being a part of the first annual Take the Lead Dance Recital!
A production fee of $30 per family is due by Friday, Feb. 6, 2015. This fee goes toward renting the stage, equipment, and various recital costs. Please pay at the front desk at Take the Lead. Your card is on file so it should be very convenient.
A costume fee for each costume is also due by Friday, Feb. 6, 2015. Costume fees vary based on each class’ costume. Please ask Erin Garner and pay at the front desk with your card conveniently on file.
Professional photos will be done by our in-house photographer, Becci Hutter, of Clear Creative Photography. These photos will be taken at Take the Lead during dancers’ regular class times the week of Monday, May 11 - Friday, May 15. Each dancer will come to their dance class that week dressed in their costume with hair and makeup done. Individual and group shots will be available in packages and singles. A sheet with photo and price options will be given to families prior to photo week.
General Costume Requirements:
Since costumes are not custom made for each dancer, you may need to make small alterations to assure a good fit. Please hang up the costume to allow wrinkles to come out. Ironing may damage some costumes, so hanging a costume in a steamy bathroom or over a humidifier is helpful.
Youth dance combo classes (ballet/tap/jazz) will need peach or pink leather ballet slippers and black tap shoes. Lace-up or buckled black tap shoes are both fine. Youth hip-hop classes (ages 7-12) will need black jazz pull-on shoes. Youth ballet/lyrical class (ages 7-12) will need peach or pink leather ballet slippers.
More specific costume instructions will be given to individual classes soon.
A mandatory dress rehearsal will be at the Springfield Art Museum auditorium on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 9:30am-12:30pm in the morning of the recital. Dancers will not need to be there the entire time, but just for a portion to rehearse on stage. You will receive a schedule of specific rehearsal stage-times in the future. All dancers must come dressed in their costumes with hair and makeup done. Specific directions for each class’ costume pieces, hair, and makeup will also be given in the future. Seats for the evening performance cannot be reserved/taped-off at dress rehearsal. This year we will not be having professional DVDs made. Most everyone has a means of recording a video and dress rehearsal is an appropriate time to do so. Please feel free to video your dancers’ performances during dress rehearsal.
The recital will be on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 4:30-6:00pm at the Springfield Art Museum auditorium, 1111 East Brookside Drive, Springfield, MO 65807. Dancers must arrive at 4:00pm dressed in their costumes with hair and makeup done. Specific directions for each class’ costume pieces, hair, and makeup will also be given in the future. The auditorium will not be open to the public until 3:30, so do not arrive before then please. The cost is free for all to attend.
Dancers, friends, and families are welcome to attend the free after-party 7:00-8:30pm at Take the Lead studio on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Refreshments will be served!
Please contact Erin Garner at Take the Lead for any questions. Call (417) 894-1187 or (417) 234-7511, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks again for being part of this extra special event!
