How Long Does it Take to Get Good at Zumba?

How Long Does it Take to Get Good at Zumba?

Every person has a different learning style, level of fitness, and self esteem.  We find that all three factors greatly influence how a person feels while dancing in a Zumba fitness class.  Many of our classes are danced in a dimly lit room with our "party lights."  Our students, including beginners, find that they feel more inclined to let loose when the room is darkened.  If a regular Zumba Fitness class is still too much, try a Zumba Gold cla...

What I Can't Do All of the Moves Due to a Recent Injury/ Surgery?

Zumba teachers, especially ours, are encouraged to know the participants in their classes.  There are many things they can tell about an individual, but it is best if you alert your teacher to any specific injuries or limitations.  Once known, our teachers will do their best to modify problematic dance moves to better fit your needs.

Another great way to participate in a Zumba class with reduced impact is a Zumba Gol...

Is Zumba Only For Women?

Not at all!  While dance based fitness classes do tend to attract mostly women, Zumba was actually created by a man!  Some of the most high energy dancers on he floor are guys who understand that fitness isn't always comprised of pumping iron in the gym.  Besides, don't single guys always look for an opportunity to hang out with women in a fun party atmosphere?

What Should I Wear to a Zumba Class?

One of the first things a brand new Zumba participant will notice about the classes is the all of the unique apparel.  Although not a necessity to enjoy a class, wearing the crazy awesome gear is all part of the fun!

First time dancers should wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move around and sweat in
.  Clothing that wicks sweat away is also a good choice.  With well attended classes, the room can heat up fast, making removabe layers an exce...

Is Zumba Actually Good Exercise?

Posted by Obi Simpson, Take The Lead Dance Studio, Springfield Mo on Thursday, October 10, 2013, In : Zumba FAQ

Is Zumba Actually Good Exercise?

Most Definitely! A typical Zumba class can burn between 500 and 1000 calories, depending on personal level of involvement (how hard you "work it").  In addition to the cardio vascular exercise, participants also build strength, coordination, balance, and the ability to move various parts of their bodies. Prepare to be sore for the next few days if you have never taken a Zumba class before.  This is also true for those of you who are in pretty good shape du...
